Year in Transition
For the past two years I had a steady full time job to come back to once summer ended. I would go in for meetings and then work 5 days a week. This year is going to be one of transitions. I left my old job because I was ready to move up to the next step and I couldn’t do it there. I will be splitting my time doing an internship to (finally) finish up my masters program and then do subbing on the side of that.
I am beyond excited for my internship since I am going back to the school I student taught at. I am also excited about not having a consistent 7-4 job. Hopefully the subbing will get my name into new school districts, give me practice being a lead teacher and gear me up for my own classroom. Come spring once I finish my internship that is where it gets a bit hairy again. Until then, I am going to embrace the flexibility in my schedule and enjoy having time to do other things (gym, exercise classes, tennis, art classes, aerials etc etc etc).
It will be a nice break from what has been two very tiring and long years. I in no way want to stop teaching since the exhaustion that comes with teaching is undeniably the most rewarding thing. I am definitely looking forward to just slowing down a bit in life and enjoying it. Maybe transitions aren’t as stressful as I thought it would be…
