Weekly Takeaway: Hands on Learning
This week I watched my kids learn where the states were by playing a game. They built landforms out of clay. They practiced new math skills using a white board. They put together puzzles of the United States. They are learning so much and its amazing to see how much they are internalizing when they use hands on learning. I am motivated to incorporate it into my phonics lessons I am doing and future teaching for my kiddos in all subjects. Since I started classes I knew I loved the idea of hands on learning. I just didn’t know how to implement it.
Now I do know and I am excited to put it into the works. The beauty of working as an assistant for a while before getting my own classroom is I have the chance to learn about things I want to try, things I didn’t know I liked and I’ve been able to solidify my theory and beliefs as a teacher.
